CanCanCan condition hash if user.id is NULL

0

in my Rails 5 app I use CanCanCan and am defining abilities:

can :read, Invoice, platform_id: user.platform_id

So it let's the user only see the invoice if it's platform_id is the same as the invoices platform_id.

But what happens if the user's platform_id and the invoice's platform is NULL?
I tested it and it DOES NOT give access to the invoice, so it seems that CanCanCan also checks if the id IS NOT NULL.

This is exactly what I need but I can't find this anywhere in the docs. Can anybody confirm (best with documentation) that CanCanCan checks for IS NOT NULL on hashed conditions?
