I am working on a calculator program for my class and im using methods and i have to take the entire equation in on one line and then separate it afterwards and that is where i am running in to a problem.
I mainly need help parsing my string in to a double
I have already made this code, if any one can help that would be greatly appreciated.
import java.util.Scanner;
import java.lang.Math;
class Driver{
public static double add(double num1, double num2)
{
double add = num1+num2;
return add;
}
public static double sub(double num1,double num2)
{
double sub = num1+num2;
return sub;
}
public static double mul(double num1,double num2)
{
double mul = num1*num2;
return mul;
}
public static double div(double num1,double num2)
{
double div = num1/num2;
return div;
}
public static double exp(double num1,double num2)
{
double exp = Math.pow(num1,num2);
return exp;
}
public static void main(String args)
{
Scanner scan = new Scanner(System.in);
System.out.println("Hello, welcome to the FORTNITE Calculator");
System.out.println("Enter your calculation:");
String calc = scan.nextLine();
String h1 = calc.substring(0,calc.indexOf(" "));
String h2 = calc.substring(calc.lastIndexOf(" "),calc.length()-1);
double num1 = Double.parseDouble(h1);
double num2 = Double.parseDouble(h2);
if(calc.contains("+") == true)
add(num1,num2);
else if(calc.contains("-") == true)
sub(num1,num2);
else if(calc.contains("*") == true)
mul(num1,num2);
else if(calc.contains("/") == true)
div(num1,num2);
else if(calc.contains("^") == true)
exp(num1,num2);
}
}
