COPY file from ci container to docker

I'm playing with CircleCI.

I have 2 git repo, one for Docker and another one for the application.

.circleci/config.yml

version: 2
jobs:
build:
machine: true
working_directory: ~/app

steps:

- checkout

- add_ssh_keys:
fingerprints:
- "MY FINGERPRINT"

- run:
name: Clone application repository
command: >-
git clone -b develop git@github.com:myrepo/myrepo application

- run:
name: Build php image
command: docker build - < php.dockerfile

php.dockerfile

FROM php:7.2-fpm

WORKDIR /var/www/applications

ADD application /var/www/application
RUN ls /var/www/application

When I build with circleci I have the error

Step 4/5 : ADD application /var/www/application
ADD failed: stat /var/lib/docker/tmp/docker-builder766641807/application: no such file or directory
Exited with code 1

How can I ADD/COPY the files I download with github in the container without git clone directly in ?
