Changing display language has no effect in Mattermost
This is Mattermost Version: 5.4.0 on Ubuntu 18.04.
The server seems to be running fine. Chatting works for two users. In config.json I set:
"LocalizationSettings": {
"DefaultServerLocale": "de",
"DefaultClientLocale": "de",
"AvailableLocales": "de,en"
},
The GUI system console shows the same settings.
But two things are not working:
- The default language for new users is not German
- Changing the display language for a user has no effect. It remains in English.
I checked the server logs in mattermost.log and could find no indication of an issue.
I don't have an idea where else to look for a problem cause.
Any ideas?

I am one step closer. I checked the database. Both test users had the 'en' locale in the database. Changing the db by hand had the desired effect.
