Running a GUI application on a remote docker host through SSH

0

a) Starting a GUI app works locally on OSX docker host from inside the docker images, e.g.:

open -a XQuartz && ip=$(ifconfig en6 | grep inet | awk '$1=="inet" {print $2}') && xhost + $ip
docker run -it --rm --name firefox -e DISPLAY=$ip:0 -v /tmp/.X11-unix:/tmp/.X11-unix jess/firefox

b) starting a GUI app works on a remote server using ssh -X, viewed locally on OSX.

c) starting of a GUI app fails if run on a remote docker server AND from inside a container with

Error: Can't open display:

I have already check some tutorials like this and this unfortunately without success. Somehow I can not figure out how to pass display variables a second time in order to make this happen.

Any help is appreciated.
