Nested dictionary type in Finder plist using Defaults?
I am writing config commands for my macOS dotfiles and I am looking to modify values inside two nested dictionaries of the com.apple.finder plistusing the defaults command.
Modifying a value in a single dictionary is valid.
defaults write com.apple.finder ComputerViewSettings -dict CustomBrowseWithCustomViewStyle -bool true
Modifying a value nested in two dictionaries is not valid.
defaults write com.apple.finder DesktopViewSettings -dict IconViewSettings -dict showItemInfo -bool true
returns
2018-11-23 18:32:52.668 defaults[72061:8599819] Cannot nest composite types (arrays and dictionaries); exiting
How do I properly modify the value nested in two dictionaries?
